Happy New Year! Some of my favorite projects in 2014 were all about getting organized. And starting off a new year organized is always a great feeling. Hope you find these tips and tricks helpful!
Closet post is finally here and it’s been finished for months, I just haven’t had a chance to get all of my before and after photos in one place. I love that my new apartment has all of these wonderful built-ins but it was a bit of a challenge getting everything arranged in this new system. There were a couple of trial and errors but I eventually found a little spot for every last item.
I removed one of the clothing bars from this area and managed to fit this three tier shelf perfectly in this nook:
Additional room for storage and I didn’t need the extra hanging space in this area, so it all worked out:
This was the last remaining area that was unfinished in my apartment so it’s a huge relief to have it finally done and checked off the list! Stay tuned for another post about Closet #2 soon.

Finally had time to organize the Ikea Raskog cart in my entryway. When I moved into my new place, I had it there temporarily because I couldn’t figure out where else to put it, and as the unpacking slowly winded down, I realized that it actually works in the space.
The initial chaos of the first stages of unpacking:
Slight improvement, but still needed a bit of sorting and organization:
Final result! Now I have a place for outgoing mail, bills, stamps, etc. and added my little vintage gold bowl to hold change and my laundry card. Eventually, I might want to invest in a small console table, but for now, this works and fits perfectly in the little spot in my entryway. More photos below:
My bathroom is the smallest area in my apartment but I’ve made quite a few changes over the last year. A few touch ups and accessories can make a huge difference.
Update 3 (final):

During the closet reorganization process, I reworked a few things in the bathroom as well.
My Ikea Raskog cart got a mini makeover.
And I switched out an my old trash can and (broken) toilet bowl cleaner for some cute metallic looking upgrades.
Just a few little tweaks can make a huge difference!
Finally finished my closet redo (and hopefully it’s my last). Seating, storage and divided use of space! I’m happy with how it all turned out. Before and after photos are below.

Remember this? My TV Stand/Dresser Switch Up….
Phase one: purple dresser in closet, TV stand in living area
Phase two: purple dresser as TV stand, TV stand as dresser
And now, to really throw you for a loop…
TV Stand is in second closet (more to come in Monday’s Pt 2 closet post)
Black and white storage that was once in closet #2 is now in #1 and I purchased one more piece of hanging storage to complete the switch.
This was the previous solution for my clothes… not ideal but I love the dresser as tv stand idea so much that I refused to switch it back.
That’s all for Closet #1! Look out for new post on Monday for the rest of the makeover with Closet #2!
