New Additions and Accessories

After a couple small purchases and birthday gifts, I’ve updated a few accessories and decor items around my apartment over the last month so I thought I’d share a few highlights here:

New rug in front of closet doors in my bedroom. Tried to use as a small entry rug but my front door was not cooperating, as explained on my latest to do list postIMG_8916 My coffee table book stack just got a major upgrade with these two amazing additions! IMG_8913  It was time to finally retire my DIY coasters and these sleek marble ones from Crate and Barrel were a major upgrade! IMG_8910   One can never have enough pillows and my sweet friend picked out this gorgeous gold pillow from Target as a birthday gift and it fits right in with my mix and match selection on the sofa. IMG_8903

Year One: Entryway

If you might remember from last year, I chronicled all of the updates in my old studio apartment after a year of living there. I can’t believe that it’s already been just a few weeks shy of one year in my (new) studio apartment, but it’s always fun to look back and see how it’s progressed and changed! I’ll be doing year one updates the rest of this week and most of next week, so stay tuned for a new area of the apartment each day. Starting off in the entryway!

I almost forgot how many changes I made to this little spot before looking back at old photos. This is just a few days after I moved in: 2014-08-22 14.57.32-1Then I added the lovely gold triangle wall decals, art and over the door storage:2014-09-01 17.57.24 Then I used the Ikea Raskog cart for a temporary entry table/mail/storage drop. 2014-10-12 18.22.32I later updated the little cart with a few DIYs and decorative touches:

2015-02-10 17.14.51I found this amazing vintage table that fit perfectly:2015-01-20 15.41.04And painted it black and added a couple more vintage accessories and decor:2015-02-28 17.56.17And here’s the final product after one year! I love walking into this space every day, greeted by the decals, art, accessories and most importantly, that gorgeous little table. _BEtoTKnvL7f5d4i1jLiLnf51C4ThsohhUVntmGzA1U3khMY9yhbEd3yF-yGKj7HUfif29vwI2rWbepK28-XR8bEuX-8FG7pmFvgGkSdfGuJ7CoDpa77kOLKtdqviV3WMc0VWcWulm1wGfwy_NKhH67qUw8GS4IWXbpbA4Fyn6-MDXlIZoEYMlgWqCe-fRS8NKzv6IKfqLRLJ9jvAnOz8RERShm1s3vs___ow1o0hT68TRoS9E3qS0z-RfoUx4HsjwZmQO-z5ASsCS1SbCoOVX77EEmYj5EMLJp5ynrQdJBYo

Thrift + Vintage Finds Around the Apartment

A couple weeks ago, I posted about my recent thrifting and vintage finds. Almost all of them have found a new home, so I thought I’d share a little update. Here’s a look at the haul (plus a few ikea items):

The candlesticks and white hobnail votive holder fit nicely on the new credenza:  2015-05-25 14.18.43 2015-05-25 14.17.14IMG_5151The wooden pineapple tray works perfectly on my little bar:IMG_5147  IMG_5149 IMG_5150 And speaking of pineapples, the little hand-stitched pineapple welcome sign is on my front door (with the help of a few 3m strips):

IMG_5038 The tall purple vase and the binoculars found homes on the window ledge:IMG_5166  IMG_5168  IMG_5170 And last but not least, I took down the art above my bed (I had a few random pieces there before that didn’t really work well but I left them as a place holder for when I found something better suited for the space) and added this gorgeous art I found at a thrift shop!

IMG_5172 IMG_5175 IMG_5176 IMG_5177 Stay tuned for part two when I finish hanging and arranging the rest of my vintage + thrift finds around the apartment.

Recent Thrift + Vintage Finds

I’ve managed to find, buy, acquire and inherit a bunch of fun vintage items over the last couple weeks so I thought I’d share them along with a few ideas to incorporate them in the apartment. IMG_4592 Thanks to a recent move by my grandparents, I asked if I could have this adorable hand-stitched pineapple welcome sign along with a vintage table lamp. I’ll add the welcome sign to my front door with a few 3m strips and need to find a new shade for the lamp. I also scored these fun little vintage fake binoculars at an estate sale a couple weeks ago for $2! IMG_4594

I took a little thrifting road trip around the DC area and had decent success with decor and accessories for my apartment. My favorite finds of the trip: this mirror for $5 and art for $15! I plan to put the mirror in my dining area of the apartment and might do a little art-rearranging to make space for this piece in my bedroom area. IMG_4826 The full haul from my thrifting trip! Plus a couple items from Ikea.. I was nearby and couldn’t resist a quick stop in. IMG_4835I am such a vase, tray, bowl hoarder. It’s almost impossible for me to pass them up! Especially when they are only a few dollars each at thrift stores.  IMG_4836 IMG_4846Stay tuned for another post in the next couple weeks with an update on where all of these pieces found a new home!

Shop Love: Jayson Home

Next up in the Shop Love series: Jayson Home. I found out about this shop long ago, but it’s still one of my favorites. Most of their furniture comes with a high price tag, however, Jayson Home has a great line of affordable accessories. I bought a marni glass several years ago and use it as a vase for flowers quite often. It’s simple, yet so glamorous, and works anywhere in my apartment. Example below:

New Additions From H&M Home

I shared a couple of my favorite finds from H&M Home a couple weeks ago, and I decided to order a few items for my apartment. The little gold pineapple is the perfect addition to my side table and the copper basket is great storage in the closet for my winter accessories. The stylish new purchases have arrived and here are a few photos! 2015-02-12 16.48.19 2015-02-12 16.48.24 2015-02-12 16.49.40 Pineapple here2015-02-10 16.40.10 2015-02-10 16.40.16 2015-02-10 16.40.37Basket here.
