DIY Painted Entry Table: Pt II

If you missed the first post, click here. This is where I left off…

After two coats of primer:

Starting off with the high gloss black! I worked my way from top to bottom and painted the smallest, intricate parts first with the smallest of my brushes.

I then painted the legs with a medium sized brush. The roller worked on the legs well for primer, but I would definitely suggest using a brush for anything that’s high-gloss. 2015-02-25 19.35.47

Before I started on the top shelf, I used a brush to fill in the gaps where I knew the roller wouldn’t reach. 2015-02-25 19.49.00

Almost time for the roller! Also, if you noticed in my last post, I didn’t yet have a paint tray. Oops. One more trip back to the hardware store.

As with the top, I filled in the spaces where I knew the roller couldn’t quite cover:2015-02-25 19.53.56

First coat with the roller on all of the tops of the shelves:2015-02-25 20.01.48

For the edges, I primarily used the roller and a medium sized brush to supplement:2015-02-25 20.11.13

Last look at coat one of the black high-gloss paint! I am loving it so far. I let it dry for 24 hours and did a second coat on just the shelves of the table and filled in a few tiny spots on the legs with a brush.

After letting it dry for a full 48 hours, here is the final look! I am thrilled with how it turned out and honestly thought my non- DIY skills would make this project a disaster. And notice the little hidden drawer!2015-02-28 14.54.32

After drying, of course I had to do some styling:2015-02-28 17.54.29 2015-02-28 17.54.36 2015-02-28 17.54.46 2015-02-28 17.54.57 2015-02-28 17.55.14 2015-02-28 17.55.25 2015-02-28 17.55.31 2015-02-28 17.55.40 2015-02-28 17.55.53 2015-02-28 17.56.02  2015-02-28 17.56.35 2015-02-28 17.56.42   2015-02-28 18.01.17 2015-02-28 18.01.20 2015-02-28 18.01.33

It’s the perfect size for this little entry of mine and a great place to drop my keys, change, outgoing mail, etc. I encourage any of you considering a painted furniture makeover to go for it! I’m so glad I did.

How cool – I did a paint-job on a stand exactly like this one just a few months ago in grey! The black looks great with your home decor!
