Last weekend I headed to Kansas to celebrate my sister’s graduation so I thought I’d share a few highlights from my trip.
The trip started off with a lovely ground delay at DCA that delayed my flight by 3.5 hours. So needless to say, wine was necessary.
After I finally landed, I had a fun girls night with Veronica Mars, red wine in giant Olivia Pope style glasses and much needed gal pal time.
Friday lunch with mom: Jack Stack. My personal favorite BBQ of all time.
Followed by some patio hang out time with my parents and the cutest cat ever: Otto.
Saturday morning was bright and early, the graduation ceremony was at 8 AM. Yikes. But it was held in Allen Field House. For any KU alums (myself included) or students, this is hallowed ground.
Strolled around campus and went out to lunch to celebrate. This is just part of the gorgeous campus. I spent a wonderful 4 years there.
After some packing, we went to one of my old favorite college bars for Schooners (the giant glasses of beer below).
Sunday morning was the “big” ceremony where all the grads walk down through the campanile (below) and down the hill into Memorial Stadium for commencement. It’s a magical moment and I was quite nostalgic thinking about my time doing the same thing a few years ago.
