For the past 10 months, I’ve had a pretty organized apartment, and kitchen, all with the exception of one cabinet- the dreaded spot for pots, pans, mixing bowls, casserole dishes, strainers, etc.
The ‘designated’ cabinet is fairly deep but far too small and compact. I tried to keep it somewhat contained when I first moved in, but as I started cooking more often and every time I unloaded the dishwasher, this cabinet would take on a new form and basically became a balancing act of how much stuff I could stack without it falling over. I could never get to anything easily and had to pull out half the contents of the cabinet just to find what I needed.
Not ideal. So last night I had another nutty idea (AKA TV stand/dresser switch up) to put all the pots, pans, etc under the kitchen sink and switch my recycle bin and cleaning supplies to the pots/pans cabinet.
Here’s the before (although this was pre-unloading the dishwasher) so this actually looks decent, but normally it’s stacked up twice as high and lids are falling out everywhere.
… and after taking everything out I realized how dirty the cabinets were so they needed a quick spray down.
I still haven’t been able to get a great shot of how amazing the “after” is, but it is far more organized, spread out, and I am able to see and access everything much easier.
The recycling bin fit perfectly in its new home and the cleaning supplies will now be stored in my extra closet (another ongoing switch up coming in the next few weeks…) with the rest of the cleaning stuff. Only kept a few essentials in that cabinet for everyday use.
