Studio Apartment Redesign: Kansas City

When I went home for Thanksgiving, I visited my best friend and her new adorable apartment near the Plaza in Kansas City! The layout is a little tricky and she wanted more room for having guests over, social gatherings, etc. so we came up with several options to rearrange the space.

Desk/table and bookshelf were tucked back in this alcove area.

Couch was on this wall and served as a “catch all” rather than social area since it was near the door and easy to throw a bag or coat on right away.

TV was here and at a difficult angle to really watch from the couch.

Bed and bookshelves were in front of the windows and the first viewpoint when you enter the apartment.

Bed is now in the alcove area!

Bed area tucked back so it’s not the first thing you see when you walk in the apartment.

Desk/table against the bed as a separator and functional way to divide the space.

Bookshelf adding height in this corner.

New social area! We angled most of the pieces a bit to create visual interest and make the space appear larger.

She loves the couch/tv area but the bed will take some getting used to 🙂 I think it looks fantastic! So in love with the adorable pineapple couch, wingback chair and mint colored bookshelves. Congrats on your first apartment!
